A little about my program: Callasterns Standard Poodles are known for being healthy, structurally sound, great temperaments, extremely intelligent and playful as well as beautiful. Refined, chiseled heads, lovely eye shape and dark color, good toplines, under-jaw and width and depth of chest. The pups movement is wonderful. My breeding poodles are completely health tested with their OFA CHIC numbers. My stud dog, CH Callasterns Blackjack’s Dazzling Legacy RN CGC (Deezel), is VGL tested with results published in Better Bred and is Dominant Black but carries recessive Cream. Deezel has OFA graded Excellent hips and phenomenal shoulder lay back. His movement is light and effortless and his head is chiseled, refined and gorgeous. He has passed these traits on in his puppies. I I breed for a low co-efficient of inbreeding, so if you are using one of my stud dogs, you will need at least a 5 generation pedigree and OFA certification of health testing.

Callasterns produces only solid colored AKC registered Standard Poodles, black and white solids with an occasional blue. Please confirm your interest by making sure you’ve touched base with me and have your pre-purchase questionnaire (found here) is sent in to me as the waiting list is already started. Unless arranged in advance, all puppies are sold on a Limited Registration and a NO spay/neuter PRIOR TO 24 months of age Contract. We want our puppies to reach full physical maturity. Any Open Registrations are more costly and I remain as co-owner until your puppy has been spayed/neutered. This will allow for AKC conformation showing and possible breeding. All Purchase Contracts will need to be notarized, one for you and one for me. Female poodles owned with a co-owner will need all co-owners to fill out the pre-purchase info page and provide it to me. Each will also need to have 2 notorized copies of their own Purchase Agreement.

Callasterns does not breed Partis, sables, phantoms or tuxedos for ourselves, but will consider a stud contract with a different colored poodle with full AKC registration and OFA health clearances. We will not contribute to the breeding of the Merle pattern. We adhere to PCA breed standards and register through AKC. All puppies will be microchipped, will have their tails appropriately docked to PCA standards and dew claws removed. No exceptions will be made as it is done on the 4th day after birth and you wouldn’t know which puppy would be yours.

Puppies are raised in my home and participate in daily socialization/startle conditioning using Puppy Culture. Puppies begin their lives on day 6 with Dr. Carmen Battaligia’s Early Bio-Sensor Neural Stimulation exercises to help develop stronger neural pathways in their developing brains. Since these are poodles, I also include additional exercises such as Scent Work and grooming - brushing, running a clipper over their entire body, Dremel on nails along with lots of holding and kissing those sweet faces. They continue with Puppy Culture Socialization/Conditioning until the day they leave me, at 10 weeks old. I keep puppies for 10 weeks to have them secure with their pack through the first of the 3 fear periods, at nine weeks. Puppies are weaned onto solid food beginning at 4 weeks of age and will be groomed and given their first clipper trims at 5 weeks and weekly afterward. They will be walked on a leash, become accustomed to a crate and I will call them by the name you give them as soon as a choice is finalized.

When your puppy is chosen, if you are out of town, and will be using a pet Nanny or driving/flying, I will request a freshly worn article of clothing in a zip lock bag. This will be placed in a travel crate for the puppy to nap on allowing him/her to imprint on your scent(s). I will purchase the travel crate, which will have wheels and a pull strap and you will be expected to reimburse the purchase when you come to pick up your puppy or you can buy it yourself and bring it with you. You can look at the preferred carrier at Petco for the Sherpa Ultimate on Wheels Pet Carrier. Cost before tax is $72.46. You will also be purchasing a tube of Tomlyn Nutri-Cal High-Calorie Nutritional Gel for Dogs. This costs $15.29 and you can order it yourself on Amazon and bring it with you or have me order it for you. This gel is necessary for travel over 2 hours to keep their blood sugar up and encourage drinking. This way they still have an empty stomach for travel. If you do not have a travel water container for dogs, Amazon has a good one for 16.99. It is a portable dog water bottle, stainless steel, leak proof, puppy water dispenser with built in bowl and unused water can be reversed back into the bottle. I DO NOT SHIP any puppies. I prefer to meet my buyers in person, but if you cannot come personally, use a pet Nanny. I can give you a referral that I have used before. If you use a pet Nanny, the puppy will have to be paid in full before the puppy leaves. If you are flying, there is a different health certificate needed, so I definitely need to know that. I do not use PayPal, nor do I use credit cards so … cash, check, cashier check or Venmo. If using a personal or cashier check, allow 4 days for me to receive it and 10 days for it to clear.

If your puppy is to be a service dog I need to know that before they are born, especially if it is scent based work that you need, so I can add that particular scent element. I am more than willing to work with you to help you identify your first or next service dog or ESA puppy. I only screen for aptitude, you need a certified service dog trainer to do the rest. I know of several and between them they can give you a name for the training you will require.

Microchips will be activated, AKC papers signed/registered before the puppy leaves my home and I will remain on the chip as an alternate. As my Contract states, the kennel name Callasterns will be the first part of your puppy’s name on the AKC registration.
